BOISE - Idaho's Senate Majority Caucus issued the following statement today in response to Gov. Brad Little's State of the State Address to the Idaho Legislature:
"Under Idaho's Republican leadership, Idahoans have experienced a decade of historic growth, improvement and opportunity. In recent years, Idaho has consistently ranked as one of the top states in the nation for job growth, economic outlook, low unemployment and personal income growth.
"Idaho's success today and in the future relies on a highly-skilled and educated workforce. Idaho's Senate Republicans support improvements to Idaho's public education system that offer career-technical training as well as college preparation. We support Governor Little's emphasis on education and his commitment to making sure that each Idaho child gets the necessary skills for a lifetime of learning and success.
"Idaho Republican Senators believe Idaho's success will continue to be built on conservative principles including a balanced budget, low taxes and minimal regulation.
"We support Governor Little's position generally that measured, conservative growth in the Idaho budget combined with bolstering Idaho's 'rainy day' funds will protect Idahoans during the next economic downturn. We also support continued investment in public transportation infrastructure without creating new tax burdens for Idahoans."
